Valentina Greene Meersohn
Santiago de Chile, 1975
Valentina Greene is the creator and designer of the textile suprarecicling brand Green-e. She is a photographer by profession, with studies in industrial design and make-up. She began to take her first steps in fashion in 2009, when she opened a small boutique with clothes imported from Argentina, where she spent several seasons and attended various workshops related to art and photography.
In 2015, with the desire to make her own creations and develop her own language, she took a course in dressmaking, a key tool for personal experimentation in the world of fashion. Enthusiastic about this universe to be discovered, she closes her shop and dedicates herself to developing her first pieces. Passionate since she was a teenager about vintage and second-hand clothes, she went to fairs and markets in search of original and quality garments, to reuse them in her designs. Thus began her path in suprarecycling or upcycling, and at the end of 2017, she created her own sustainable brand “Green-E”.
“The motivation of my work is to recover discarded pieces to give them a new life and revalue them. Superecycling allows me not only to express my own aesthetic language, but also to show the narrative of each reused garment. With my work I aim to visualise and inform about new textile practices that are less polluting and more in tune with today’s times”.
