Isidre Mateo Padilla

Isidre Mateu is a multifaceted artist who works in painting, collage, engraving, sculpture, ceramics and jewellery. He lives in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, where he participated as an active member in the demands of the Plataforma el Borsí per al Barri, which succeeded in recovering this building as a cultural infrastructure for the neighbourhood. He studied at the Sant Jordi Faculty of Fine Arts, specialising in painting and engraving, obtaining the validation of his degree in 2010. He has worked as a teacher of Graphic Arts, has participated in numerous group exhibitions, held several solo exhibitions, and participated in the organisation of international exhibitions, such as the exchange with Catalan and Japanese artists and the Marrakech Art Exhibition, organised by the Spanish Institute of Culture.
“Materialising the idea with a minimum number of formal elements and, sometimes, with the participation of pieces and found objects has been an interesting exercise, always avoiding as much as possible the simple and easy occurrence”.
