Matilla studied at the San Eloy School of Fine Arts in Salamanca and graduated in Art History from the USAL. From 1974 to 1976 she attended courses in applied and pedagogical psychology at the Pontifical University of Salamanca. During her training she comes into contact with and learns from renowned artists: Chillida, Jerónimo Prieto, Manuel Manzanaro, Félix Felmart and Marc Tara Tessier. She held numerous solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally.
At the end of the seventies, she settled first in Alicante and then in the Balearic Islands, where she came into contact with local artists, and in 1986 she met the German photographer Reinald Wünsche, who would become the father of her daughter, and moved to the island, where she combined her personal work with teaching: she gave theatre and Sevillana courses for adults and painting classes to children, as an extracurricular activity.
To her teaching profession, Teresa adds community involvement, being one of the founders of the Association of Neighbours of the Island of Formentera, AVIF in the Spanish acronym, an entity with extraordinary weight in participating in the decision making of the island government and in various protests and demonstrations, and as an active member of the Council of Entities. She is also co-founder of the Association of Artists of Formentera, ADAF in the Spanish acronym, organiser of the Art Market of San Fernando. This year she was granted the honour of being named Adoptive Daughter of Formentera.
