Gabriel Raventós
Salta (Argentina), 1972
One of the main inspirations for Raventós is the adventure of finding objects, combining them and thinking about what he will turn them into. He does not work with a preconceived idea; the materials he has are what activates his creative spirit. He uses alternative strategies for living, based on limited participation in the conventional economy. He recycles the materials he finds in the streets starting with stamp paper, bank checks and bills from the 40s and 50s to paint a series of characters that are part of a neighborhood, to give more significance to what is not so important, a rebellion against discipline and established canons.
