Alberto Bergeret
Montevideo (Uruguay), 1946
He began his higher studies at the Faculty of Architecture in Montevideo and obtained the title of architect at the Escola Técnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona. Since its foundation in 2004, it has been part of the TALLER D’IDEES creation space. He has participated on several occasions, individually and collectively, in exhibitions within the Open Days at the Workshops of the creators of the Old Town of Barcelona: OPEN WORKSHOPS, organised by AFAD. During his career he has explored a variety of creative methods, from painting to animation and finally sculpture. Living in Barcelona the sea is a present theme in his artistic reflection, and he remains active in participating in exhibitions. Tucho has accompanied Drap-Art with his work since 2016, in Barcelona, Sitges and Montevideo, he returns to Barcelona in March 2023 with his exhibition ‘Los Barcos de Tucho’, boats have been the central theme of his practice since 2014.

“Although the boats are the protagonists, my works are not naval model works. I do not copy a model, but I create a fiction. Although the base material is wood, they are not joinery works. I deliver waste material from carpentry or collected from the street. Although they represent ships, none would sail. In the end, all that remains is the pretext of the theme to compose with the elements of a marine language that unifies them: prows, anchors, sails, masts, propellers, chimneys…”
