DS LEÓN
Barcelona, 1979
David Sánchez León, aka D S León, shapes his work using different techniques that have been perfected over the years. His main project, which is reflected in all his work, is a reflection on humanity and its daily habits. Els Ninots are like those humans that we meet daily, on the streets, at our jobs, in the shops of our neighbourhood. Small or large, nice and unfriendly beings, with empathy and resilience towards their equals. This utopia of a society without greed or envy, with a simple soul, which defends equality and despises injustice.
His work has been exhibited in Barcelona, Madrid, Girona, Madrid and Venice.
Reflection on Humanity
David S. León and his organic abstract sculpture break the air that surrounds them, they achieve a magical abstraction of observation twisting the wire, expression and feeling and assembling with their surroundings that go beyond the most dynamic movement with one objective: to reflect on humanity.
The forms, materials and techniques refined over the years create continuity and give meaning to the entire work, and at the same time, its simplicity traps us in an art of seduction. An involuntary intentionality, and an intentional will.
His work starts from a schematic representation, from a simple idea of human figuration with pure, honest and committed lines that reproduce and are inspired by moods, the daily life that surrounds him and, sometimes, the same perversion impregnated in society. .
Femininity is a constant in her work and becomes a source of inspiration, strength and a lot of light.
The artist sees influences from cubist figuration, strolling through the most contemporary avant-garde and shapes his work using different techniques that have been perfected over the years.
