Michael John Koftinow is an artist from California, who lives in Granada since 2018, where he develops his work and Research Center around interdisciplinary practices that involve acts of scrutiny to overconsumption, waste, and late-stage capitalism. He works with a collection of materials to activate everyday items and draws inspiration from planned obsolescence, discarded materials, and multinational byproducts. Koftinow has a double degree in Art and Art History from Sonoma State University (California) and a Master in Art with a specialization in Painting from the Cranbrook Academy of Art (Michigan). His work, which includes painting, threedimensional objects, performance, and video, has been exhibited in various museums and galleries in the United States, and more recently with the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada during the Incineration program of the Festival of Young Filmmakers and Reciclar Arte exhibitions in 2019 and 2020.
