Jordi Prat Pons
Mataró, 1965
Since 1987, Jordi Prat Pons has had more than 60 solo exhibitions, has participated in more than 100 group exhibitions and 30 international fairs. He has been working with the collage technique for 33 years. He mainly uses bottle labels, posters and old posters, which he recovers from the street and uses according to texture and colour to create works that seem to be painted with a certain realism, in a way that in fact does not resemble conventional collages. Over time, to these collages that look like paintings, he has been incorporating objects such as tin plates, cigarette packets or tins, coming closer to assemblage. He is currently embarking on a new project to create large-scale installations that look like Pixel Art murals, using discarded books. According to him, he uses “culture to make culture”.
