Fran Lucas Simón studied Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and has been living on the island of Formentera for more than 13 years.
The visual language he has been developing is a union of different elements that play with each other in every work. He has been evolving from a place closer to painting to settle in another quite particular way of constructing images.
The creative process starts with fieldwork, collecting materials during walks through open spaces and a part of workshop tasks in which he uses various pictorial techniques such as watercolour paintings on paper which are then cut out and resembled with elements collected during the fieldwork, found objects, reused materials or natural elements that he has dried and treated.
He seeks the poetics of found elements, with an interest in the textures of old wood, stained by use, rusted metals on which time has been painted. He proposes different visual and referential elements.
