Alacalle is the design studio of Maria Molsosa Fabrés and Gustavo Germain Ariello, a Catalan designer and an Argentinean artisan, who met while hanging from a trapeze and decided to build a family together, their first creative project on solid ground. In the midst of their upbringing, the Alacalle project was also born, with the idea of communicating through creative actions with a clear environmental commitment.
They currently work exclusively with the recovery of materials and, what was initially an anecdotal feature of their work, has now become their starting point, their raison d’être and their way of doing things. To this end, they turn materials and objects around, seeking new uses and utilities to extend their life cycle and thus transform them back into resources. With this perspective and through design and recovery, they create pieces of furniture, lighting, decorative objects, handicrafts, accessories and even communication campaigns or artistic installations.
“Transforming objects, giving them a new life, is also a way of transforming the world we live in and the way we relate to it. Changing the way we look at things helps us to become more aware, to give things a different value and thus change the way we produce and consume. We are sure that, through small individual gestures, together we can achieve great changes at a collective level”. “We are driven by the conviction that there are other ways of living, producing and consuming, that change is not only possible, but urgent and necessary to survive in this world. Our personal concerns, our social and environmental commitment, our values and our conscience have made us embark on this creative project based on sustainable and responsible design”.
